Saké The Rocks

Saké Brand Culinary Chef Shimpei Hatanaka leads the kitchen at Saké The Rocks.

The flagship of the Saké group is housed in an elegant, split-level heritage building with original sandstone features and a moody, stylish ambience. Accents of Japanese design are present in a beautiful wall of bright-coloured sake barrels, and eye-catching, whole-of-wall artwork featuring an enchanting Japanese, tattooed girl. Like a teenager, Saké The Rocks is moody yet vivacious.

Our dress code at Saké The Rocks is smart-casual.

Our Saké classic dishes, such as melt-in-the-mouth, Miso-Glazed Glacier 51 Toothfish; spectacular Hiramasa Kingfish with Lime and Jalapeno Kosho and Coriander-Infused Ponzu; Shumai – or steamed prawn dumplings; and light tempura-coated Popcorn Shrimp with Yuzu and Spicy Mayonnaise are mainstays of the menu that we are unable to remove. Guests also hit us up daily for sushi rolls, nigiri and sashimi hand-made by our expert sushi masters.

Saké The Rocks does not have a children’s menu, but we can reduce portion size and level of spice.

Saké Double Bay

Jungbae Cho, or Jamie, has been Head Chef at Saké Double Bay since 2017. Before this, he worked at the Double Bay restaurant as Chef de Partie and Sous Chef.

The Eastern suburbs outpost of the casually chic Saké group dials up the style in spades. Dramatic viola calacatta marble features throughout the restaurant, including a central, 24-seat communal table and a splendid wall that runs from open kitchen to sushi bar to cocktail bar, which are both made of this extravagant material. Subtle Japanese influences and signature Saké features include light timbers and slatted walls and doors. Saké Double Bay is vibrant, stylish, sexy and chic.

Like our Saké siblings, there are classic dishes that we can’t take off the menu, such as melt-in-the-mouth, Miso-Glazed Glacier 51 Toothfish; spectacular Hiramasa Kingfish with Lime and Jalapeno Kosho and Coriander-Infused Ponzu; Shumai – or steamed prawn dumplings; and the perennial favourite, light tempura-coated Popcorn Shrimp with Yuzu and Spicy Mayonnaise. Our hand-made to order sushi rolls, nigiri and sashimi are big hitting menu items, too. Signature dishes to Saké Manly, including Wagyu and Prawn fried rice, Lobster Tempura, and a selection of Japanese-inspired bao buns are crowd pleasers too. We’re the only Saké restaurant to serve ramen; we have delicious bowls of tonkotsu soy ramen and spicy miso ramen on the menu daily.
